Matte Mark 0
Explorer 1016 — Matte Mark 0
Undated
Transitional matte dial printed from the same cliché as the gilt Type 2/4 dials, so it shows the stringy, wide-based coronet; thick “band-aid” textured lume and flat hands. Only one example confirmed so far.
Serials run from about 516,xxx (1959) into the R and L letter series of 1987–1989. Dial types were not strictly sequential: some matte dials reappear late in the run.
