166.077, Prototype
Seamaster PloProf 166.077 — 166.077, Prototype
1968–c. 1970
Pre-series watches: the first prototype dates from 1968 and used the caliber 1000. Some were tested by COMEX divers off Ajaccio (Operation Janus, 253 m) or by Ocean Systems Inc. in the USA; these fetch by far the highest auction prices.
HODINKEE notes that over 60% of PloProfs serviced at Omega in Bienne had swapped movements, and that service dials, hands and bezels are common.
