Sea-Dweller 1665 — Great White
All dial text in white and “Submariner 2000” dropped, leaving “Sea-Dweller” over the depth rating. The caseback “Rolex” now curves along the fluting instead of running straight. Introduced around serial 5.2 million and made alongside the 16660 into the early 1980s; the last Sea-Dweller with an acrylic crystal.
The valve patent (CH492246) was filed on 6 November 1967 and granted in June 1970. Cases up to the 2.9 million batch use casebacks stamped IV.67; a thicker case arrived in the first quarter of 1972 (I.72). Double Red production ran from about 1.7 to 5.1–5.2 million.
