Crash (Cartier London)
1967–?4 variants
The original Crash, designed at 175 New Bond Street and made entirely by hand: gold cases fabricated in Clerkenwell, Jaeger-LeCoultre movements fitted by head watchmaker Eric Denton, and dials repainted by Emmerson until the distorted numerals read correctly. Roughly 43 × 23–25 mm, signed “Cartier London”, with London hallmarks and the “JC” mark on case and clasp, and sold only through the London boutique.
No reference number: London Crash watches are identified by case number and London hallmark date letter. About a dozen were made under Jean-Jacques Cartier; later small runs followed in the late 1980s. The production end date is not settled (see notes).
