36 mm (43 mm lug to lug, 20 mm lugs, 11.5 mm thick) steel Oyster Perpetual with a smooth bezel: the Explorer 1016 case size in a slimmer case. Never mass-produced. Small dial text, probably printed with the 34 mm 1002’s plates, and long white-gold markers at 3, 6 and 9. Cal. 1560 early, then 1570.
Strictly Vintage Watches gives production from at least 1960 to marketing material of 1988 at the latest. Dated examples: case 670,439 circa 1960; 675,731 made 1961; 1.02M 1964; 1.27M and 1.45M circa 1966; 2.09M and 2.12M circa 1969; case 1,740,007 with caseback IV.67 offered as circa 1976.
